Day 2
Chiang Mai Biking
Cycle through green fields, following the Ping River downstream. Call in at a former leper colony, now a rehabilitation centre, to gain insight into the activities of missionaries in the days of old. Continue on to discover the real rural Thailand, cruising past orchards and farms. Meander through small villages and explore the temple ruins of Wiang Kum Kam, the former capital of Lanna, on the way back into town. After a break, head off to visit the temple complex of Doi Suthep to listen to the evening chanting provided by the resident Buddhist monks.
Day 3
Chiang Mai Rafting, Biking and Elephant Riding
Ride an elephant through the jungle, visit some villages, jump onto a mountain bike and tackle dirt roads to get to the picnic lunch spot. After refuelling, it's time to raft down the Mae Taeng River and its 14 gorges. With rapids ranging from grade 3 to 5, this is some of Asia's finest white water rafting.
Wake early to offer alms to Buddhist monks in a nearby village, and maybe fit in a wander through the local market.
