Take an optional boat tour of the amazing Ballestas Islands, a nature reserve for pelicans, flamingos and sea lions. Then it's on to the desert to see the mysterious Nazca Lines.

Arequipa
Dazzlingly white Arequipa is oozing with Spanish colonial charm. Take in the architecture or visit the interesting Monasterio de Santa Catalina.
Days 6-7
Colca Canyon
Enjoy expansive views at Colca Canyon: it's twice as deep as the Grand Canyon. From Chivay, take short hikes throughout the canyon, exploring this magnificent natural wonder.
Days 8-9
Cuzco
Inca-built walls line the central streets of fascinating Cuzco.
Day 10
Sacred Valley
Stop at the town of Pisac, perched high on a hilltop overlooking the fertile Sacred Valley. Keep an eye out for llamas on the way to historic Ollantaytambo.
Days 11-14
Inca Trail/Cuzco
The Inca trail is dotted with history. View the ancient ruins of Llactapata, an inn burnt to the ground by the last Inca Emporor. Then, trek to the incomparable Machu Picchu.
Day 15
Cuzco
Optional mountain biking and hiking options abound - or just rest those trek-weary legs at Plaza de Armas.
Day 16
Puno
Visit the Yavari - a ship, museum and bar all in one - to learn its interesting history.
Days 17-19
Puno/Lake Titicaca
Visit the isolated Uros floating islands, built from many layers of the totora reeds that grow in the shallows of the lake. Enjoy a homestay on the lake.
