Take an optional boat tour of the Ballestas Islands in the Paracas National Reserve to spot penguins, pelicans, red-footed boobies and many other animals and birds.
Days 3-4
Nazca
The adventurous might want to try sandboarding on the dramatic dunes at Huacachina. Follow the trail of ancient pre-Incan cultures to the mysterious Nazca Lines. Animals, insects and birds are depicted, and some of the massive line etchings stretch up to 10 km in length.
Day 5
Arequipa
Standing in a beautiful valley at the foot of the perfect, snow-capped cone of El Misti Volcano is historic Arequipa. Spend a day exploring white churches or chilling-out in the main plaza.
Days 6-7
Colca Canyon
Spend an evening soaking in the hot thermal baths or listening to live Andean music in Chivay, then it's on to the Colca Canyon to explore the immense space and learn about local life during a family homestay.
Days 8-10
Puno/Lake Titicaca
Travel through dramatic high altiplano scenery to the shores of Lake Titicaca. Be amazed by the vast expanses of water and unique island lifestyles, and welcomed into local homes on an overnight stay on one of the islands of the lake.
Days 11-13
Cuzco
Get active in Cuzco, partaking in optional hiking, biking and rafting adventures. There are nightly folklore shows to see or many bars in which to try the local brew - Pisco, a clear brandy.
Day 14
Sacred Valley
A landscape of sacred mountains and dramatic gorges await in the Sacred Valley, then it's time to board a train to visit the famed Machu Picchu.
Days 15-16
Aguas Calientes/Machu Picchu
Get ready for the sight of a lifetime: looking down on the imposing Machu Picchu, set against a backdrop of forested mountains, is an unforgettable moment. Discover the allure of its mysterious history on a walk around the amazing site.
Day 17
Cuzco
It's back to Cuzco for a chance to relax in a cafe at the Plaza de Armas.
Days 18-19
Amazon Jungle
Be captivated by the thick jungle of the Amazon, teeming with wildlife which will hopefully be spotted on a guided walking tour of the forest. Stay in a jungle lodge and take the time to explore the wilds.
Mingle with Lima's locals - known as Limenos - in the cosmopolitan coastal areas of this huge city. Hit the beaches here, or head into the historical centre to discover more of the history and traditions of old Peru.
